My 66.5 $SOL was stolen on the 14th of January 2025. After routing the funds through 3 EOA it was later deposited on @MEXC_Official and in less than 24hrs from when it occurred, I reported the case. MEXC directed me to make a law enforcement report and law enforcement should file a claim on my behalf which I did.

All necessary information required for MEXC to carry out their own investigation to substantiate my claim was provided by Law enforcement. But their response was shocking as they claimed they are not at liberty to share the details of the criminal due to jurisdictional red tape, this is contained in frame 1 of the images below. Law enforcement then said okay, please help us in the retrieval of the stolen funds to which MEXC failed to respond, even to follow up mails for over 8 months until recently when they came under fire for not responding to users.

This is an established case of fraud and MEXC response is “we cannot help you because this individual is not of your national”. And then recently they said “the documents submitted by law enforcement is not legally compliant”, see in frame 2. If you cannot share the details of a criminal due to regulatory red tape, what stopped you from reporting the crime to local authorities in their country of residence? Your platform was used to commit a crime which in itself is a breach of the term of use and you sat on your ass and did nothing about it. Just how many ills does the MEXC team turn a blind eye to?

So many people have reached out to me via DM on X and within my community to express a well-known idea, that once stolen funds hits MEXC, that is the end, no retrieval, no closure. This is a terrible image to have as a CEX but they don’t seem to care. MEXC has become a black hole for stolen funds and this is a concern because it shows that a lot of bad actors can use their exchange to move illicit funds since all they seem to care about is high inflow volume regardless of where it is coming from.

MEXC repeatedly failed to address questions on whether the funds have been off ramped or if it is still on their exchange but they did confirm recently that the reported account is still frozen. They failed to provide a clear guideline for law enforcement to follow in this kind of case, they also fail to advice on what they term to be a “legally compliant documents” since this is their entire excuse for failing to cooperate on an active case of criminal investigation.

There are thousands of cases like this involving MEXC, it looks like their strategy is to frustrate the victims until they give up and move on. But that is not going to happen in my case as this money is my sweat for the past 5 years in web3. I will be loud about this until I am responded to and the case is resolved.
