100% agree. It's criminal to put a lot of effort into finding out what works, but not even care about getting those things implemented and sustained in the places that need it most.
Receiving some phone calls on this older episode that @Freakonomics is re-airing today. This was a productive episode to do since I remain with the thought that the most important area of science we can be engaged in today is the science of scaling, or the science of using science.
This passage is one that caught my attention in light of the current atmosphere:
LIST: "I do think it’s a crisis in that if we don’t take care of it as scientists, I think everything we do can be undermined in the eyes of the policymaker and the broader public. We don’t understand how to use our own science to make better policies."

@tombennett71 Right yes. Was there anything in the implementation/roll out of the Hubs, or commissioning from the DfE, that made an RCT or other comparison group design impossible? Feels like such a shame to not have a good answer to the question, 'Did it work?', right?

Research on physician quality has parallels with that on teacher quality. Physician quality matters (in Norway, 1 sd of physician quality reduces 2-year mortality by 12 percentage points) but it is hard to pin down and not correlated with patient ratings: https://t.co/cpSCFJx3MP
