@QueensSport
From All-Ireland victory to Olympic feats, our athletes continue to make history, and last night we celebrated some of them with a special recognition ceremony to mark their incredible sporting achievements this year.
Among the sporting stars were the 18 Queen’s alumni who brought the @Armagh_GAA team to All-Ireland victory, both as players and management, and the 12 students and alumni who were involved in and competed with #TeamIreland and #TeamGB at the Paris #OlympicGames, across #Rowing, #TrackCycling, #FieldHockey, #RugbySevens and #Athletics.
As part of the celebrations, Olympic bronze medallist Philip Doyle and #ArmaghGAA manager Kieran McGeeney, both @QUBAlumni, were also presented with Chancellor’s Medal Awards for their dedication to their profession and mastery of their craft.
“We are immensely proud of the achievements of our alumni, student athletes and coaches.
“To compete at elite level sport takes untold sacrifice and determination over many years. The dedication our athletes and coaches have demonstrated is a shining light and prime example to all of what can be achieved through hard work and perseverance.
“We at Queen’s will continue to provide the best possible environment for our student athletes to thrive in both the sporting arena and with their studies.” (@QUBVChancellor, Professor Sir Ian Greer).
Nice work, everyone! Congratulations to you all.

The Queen's GAA tour made an historical stop in New York, as students got to visit the iconic New York Stock Exchange. While in the Big Apple, our players also got an exclusive tour of both First Derivative, a technology engineering specialist, and Options IT, who provide IT infrastructure to financial sectors across the world.
“We got a chance to meet a few Queen’s alumni. They are just local people who we know from back home in Belfast and are now living in New York and all these different cities that these companies operate in.” (Matthew Murnagham, Sigerson Cup Captain)
