I'm under pressure right now. You probably are too.
I know because pressure is higher than ever for everyday people, and it's not going away.
So I've written a book on it - it covers how pressure works, what it does to your brain, and what you can do about it
It's based on decades of seeing and using what works for the very best pressure pros I work with, across a bunch of different high stakes arenas around the world.
You can find out more and order your copy now at https://t.co/WcvRW29uQb
Because even the best can't get through pressure on their own - this book is here to help.
(speaking of which... HUGE shoutout to @penguinrandom@Avery_Books and everyone else who's helped get this thing out into the world!)

A surprising new study finds that people who sleep near their dogs don’t experience disrupted sleep. If anything, the University of Toronto researchers discovered, we humans are the ones disturbing our dogs’ sleep. https://t.co/fCVVc4vwE8
Five Ways Attention Shapes Sporting Excellence…
One…
Perhaps the most exciting quality in developing elite sport is attention. Attention influences engagement. Attention mediates learning. Attention drives performance. Attention is the relay station for the emergence and execution of
so many athletic & playing abilities
Two…
Coaches would do well to ask players to pay attention to their attention. Such a request might
be worthy of an activity in and of itself - a small-sided game to pay attention to attention…a keep-ball to pay attention to attention. Attention is the universal currency in sport
Three…
Is there anything more powerful in coaching than helping players re-direct their attention? You can do this through the questions you ask…
External change: "Where else can you scan that may help you make a different decision?"
Internal change: "Is there another way you can look at this situation to feel better about it?"
Four…
A coach's attention to detail must be exacting & impervious to defeat. After a loss a coach must put things in perspective. You can dominate performance but still lose. You can perform poorly and still win. The outcome of a match must be met with the right focus of attention…
Five…
One of the greatest skills a coach can help a
player develop is the skill of attention...to focus their mind on what they can control...to deal with distractions quickly...to build a concentration that flexibly filters the irrelevant while pinpointing the relevant..
Just like others in less public roles who I've worked thru this, he reminded me that the higher someone climbs on one narrow version of themselves, the more a single bad day puts the whole thing at risk.
More success does not solve that.

An NFL client I worked with wanted to quit it all at the peak of everything, with a multi-year, multi-million-dollar contract in front of him. Here's what happened next ⬇️ (1/5)
So, we stopped chasing performance and set up a system in his week to broaden his identity, rebuild the person underneath, and work on accepting imperfections and the ups and downs. (4/5)
