The big concern for the Social Democrats right now is that your taxes need to be increased.

That won't be a problem for their Wicklow TD, Jennifer Whitmore, though.

Why?

Because the Delgany-based politician is currently pulling down €25,295 per year in Travel and Accommodation allowance.

For a 40-minute drive into the Dáil.

That's €2,000 a month - and keep in mind - the Dáil only sits three days a week.

Why so much to drive Delgany to Dublin? Is she travelling by helicopter? Gold-plated limo?

Either way - it's easy to call for tax increases that will impact ordinary working people when you earn €120,000 plus a handy €25k travel allowance.

That's the modern left - privileged, unrepresentative and completely disconnected.

🚨 New figures reveal a dramatic change in Dublin’s social housing waiting list.

Of 15,005 households waiting:

8,706 are Irish = 58%
6,299 are non-Irish = 42%

Somali households alone account for 1,320 applicants = 8.8% of the entire list.

The non-Irish share of accepted housing offers rose from 21.8% in 2023 to 32.9% in 2025. Approved Housing Bodies now provide almost 63% of all accepted offers.

Yet Dublin City Council admits it does not monitor allocation outcomes or waiting times by nationality.

It cannot tell us who waits longest, who refuses offers, why AHB nominations fail, or properly explain these enormous demographic changes.

A housing system distributing thousands of homes should not operate without transparent data.

Figures from Fingal County Council show that in January 2026 there were 450 single adults in homeless emergency accommodation under this Council.

171 were Irish citizens. That is 38% of those whose nationality was recorded, 61.2% were citizens of other countries, and 45.6% of the total were from outside the EEA.

There were 354 families. 79 were Irish. That is 22.3%. Of those whose nationality was recorded, 77.6% were citizens of other countries, and 48.6% of the total were from outside the EEA.

In both cases Irish citizens are a minority in a publicly funded service.
