On multiple occasions I’ve been told NOT to engage with “Haters” on social media and to “Just ignore them”

But I like to take a different approach and politely engage with the ones who are merely misinformed and open up a channel of communication so we may better understand each-others sides of the discussion
(I don’t block anyone as free speech is important to me as long as it’s not unnecessarily hateful)

Today I’ve received over 50 comments on a FB post by daily news based on a headline being the sole source of information due to the article requiring a subscription

Luckily for me most Zimbabweans are kind, forward thinking people, so together we have helped inform the misinformed of the true purpose of #1MillionZimStones and not let only the headline cause unnecessary hate fuelled comments.

Once they had the facts we have engaged in polite conversation and even come to understand each other

(Obviously a few people just want to be hurtful but that’s social media I’m afraid)

#1MillionZimStones does not aim to take the heritage of Zimbabwe away nor does it aim to take full credit for any good work it achieves, this is a team effort aimed at giving young Zimbabweans a different path in this modern era, whilst building beautiful stonework that will hopefully help in a small way to encourage people to #VisitZimbabwe
