My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.
He is a true hero.

Just finished watching the movie Nuremberg - realized that the judgment was delivered on this day, September 30, eighty years ago...
The phrase "Jewish Question" figures in the trials, naturally. Indians watching this "Indian Question" type insanity below ooze out from the ascendant wing of the Republican base will doubtless also notice other details in the movie mostly to do with economics long before the final catastrophes unfold.
I appreciate prominent IAs efforts to insist 'we're all americans' and such. But this will fall on deaf, if not tired or even hardened ears, if prominent IAs don't stop their Marie Antoinette type "we're rich and smart and you're not" boasting. Most IAs are in fact not super rich or tech giants. Stay relatable, or at least try.
And yes, call out racism as racism, period. Don't be so vainglorious that you think IAs can't say racism just cos you're so arrived and all that!
Remarkable indeed!
Congratulations to Dharmveer Chaudhary, Manu TS, Jay Kumar and Vishal TK on winning Bronze in the Men’s 4×400m Relay with a superb timing. May their success contribute to the popularity of athletics in the times to come: PM @narendramodi
I needed a little time to put this into words. My Asian Games campaign is over, and I’m hurting. Three points from closing out that quarterfinal. I keep coming back to those three points. Like in China, long, demanding rallies at the most critical moments turned the match. I had my chance. Letting it slip hurts.
Three matches in 18 hours. Back at 3 a.m., out again at 8:30 a.m. It took a toll. But after a camp that gave me every reason to believe, I wanted so much more. My team and I are already working on closing out those moments. We will fix it.
I’m hurting, but that’s okay. I’m glad it still means enough to hurt this much. I still want this. I still bring all of myself to that court. That feeling keeps me going.
There’s room for pride, too. From my first Asian Games in 2014 to my fourth now, twelve years of giving everything for India. I want to let myself feel that. One painful result cannot define a journey that means so much.
To everyone who stayed up, cheered and believed: I wanted those last three points for us, too. Thank you for standing beside me. I’ll go again. 🇮🇳
