It feels like a lot of writing when I hold all the #ChronicPainHaikus poems together as a unit.
One poem = one day of pain so bad that I just couldn’t stand it.
24 months of chronic pain, at a rate of one poem every two weeks.
That’s a lot of pain to hold in my hand.
My scapula clicks.
Grinds. Pops. Jumps. Skips. Pulls. Lifts. Twists.
Right out of socket.

Home. Alone. In pain.
Pain each time I take a breath.
Vacation, it’s not.

Hello, morning, my old friend
I’ve come to cry to you again
Because my ankle it was paining
When all I needed was peeing
And now that I’ve crawled
My way to the toilet and back
Oh, that trip back
My screams will pierce
The sounds of silence

Sleepy. But in pain.
Which will win this bed battle?
Toss? Turn? Just lay flat?

Maiden. Mother. Crone.
It’s been right at a year since a geneticist confirmed my hEDS diagnosis and we decided officially, no take-backsies, no doubts, no offspring for us.
I wasn’t really a Maiden anymore,… https://t.co/xXfegzyo7Y
