The Russian Embassy in Kabul has expressed concern over the continuation of military confrontation between Pakistan and Afghanistan, saying that the clashes are affecting civilians, including children.
Referring to Pakistan’s airstrikes on Helmand and Kunar during the night of October 1, the embassy said that the attacks resulted in the deaths of several people, including children, while others were injured.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that a protest march by supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Imran Khan will begin today, Sunday, at 1 p.m. from Gandi Chowk in Lakki Marwat.
According to Afridi’s announcement, supporters from Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, South and North Waziristan, Bannu, and Lakki Marwat will join the convoy. The march is scheduled to pass through Karak, Kohat, and Peshawar, before proceeding toward Swabi.
The PTI says the march is intended to press for the release of Imran Khan and raise its political demands. Government-opposition talks have also been held over the march, but the PTI has maintained its decision to proceed with the protest.

The Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) says violence-linked fatalities in Pakistan increased by 83 percent in the third quarter of 2026 compared with the second quarter, amid militant activity and counter-terrorism operations.
According to the center’s latest report, at least 385 incidents of violence were recorded across Pakistan during the third quarter, resulting in at least 1,415 deaths and 558 injuries among civilians, security personnel, and outlaws.
Balochistan was the worst-affected province, with 186 incidents and 829 fatalities, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 173 incidents resulted in 556 deaths and 376 injuries.
The report says Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa together accounted for 98 percent of all violence-linked fatalities recorded across Pakistan during the third quarter.
CRSS said the increase from the second to the third quarter was the highest quarter-on-quarter escalation in violence it has recorded since 2021.

Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation, has commented on the situation in Pakistan’s capital, saying that Islamabad has turned into “Container-Abad.”
Asking why this is happening, he added that the people of Pakistan deserve a better situation.
Khalilzad also said that Pakistan’s capital and truck drivers are suffering financial losses due to the restrictions.
Following a request by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party to hold a demonstration in Islamabad, Pakistani authorities blocked roads leading into the capital with containers to prevent protesters from entering the city. The measure has disrupted movement and transportation activities.

The European Union has expressed concern over the civilian casualties caused by airstrikes carried out by Pakistan in Kunar and Helmand.

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Afghan Foreign Minister will travel to Moscow at Russia’s official invitation to attend the meeting. He will also hold bilateral meetings with officials from various countries on the sidelines of the gathering.
The eighth consultative meeting of the Moscow Format on Afghanistan is scheduled to take place in Moscow on October 5.
A spokesperson for Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said special representatives and senior officials from Afghanistan, Russia, China, Iran, India, Pakistan, and Central Asian countries will participate in the meeting.
According to the spokesperson, discussions will focus on political and economic engagement between Afghanistan and regional countries, as well as strengthening regional cooperation in combating armed groups and drug trafficking. A joint statement is also expected to be issued at the end of the meeting.
The Moscow Format was established in 2017 to support national reconciliation, stability, and peace in Afghanistan. Its seventh meeting was held last year, focusing on national reconciliation and regional cooperation in political and economic areas.

The Afghan government spokesperson says Pakistani aircraft targeted civilian homes last night in Chugam area of Shultan District in Kunar Province and Safar area of Garmser District in Helmand Province.
According to the spokesperson, nine women and children were killed and 11 others were injured in the strikes, while three homes were also destroyed.
The Afghan government spokesperson condemned the strikes, describing them as aggression and a crime in violation of all accepted principles.

Nisar Ahmad Shirzai, a former Afghan intelligence officer, has accused Saleh Mohammad Registani of using deceptive tactics to stir public emotions.
Shirzai criticized Registani’s activities on Facebook, saying he is following the same approach previously used by Hasib Qawa-ye Markaz.

Voice of Hindukush News Agency, citing sources within the Afghanistan Freedom Front, has claimed that following the group’s recent failure in Nuristan, Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is planning, in coordination with Freedom Front leader Yasin Zia, to arrest or eliminate Fazal Rabi Khunjani.
According to the outlet, Yasin Zia and Safiullah Mohammadi, his wife’s brother and one of the officials responsible for Freedom Front members in Chitral, have blamed Khunjani for the failure of the group’s latest operation and have lost trust in him.
Voice of Hindukush, citing its sources, said they accused Khunjani of handing over members under his command to Afghan government security forces as part of a secret agreement with those forces.
The outlet also claimed that following the Freedom Front’s recent setbacks, disagreements, mistrust, and clashes have increased among members of the group and other opposition groups and figures.
Voice of Hindukush further reported that some members of these groups, after learning what they described as the “facts,” want to surrender to the Afghan government and leave opposition groups and Pakistani intelligence facilities and camps in Pakistan.

The Economic Deputy Office says it has discussed the priorities of the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs with donors, international organizations, the United Nations, and development partners.
According to the Economic Deputy Office, the priorities include meeting the basic needs of persons with disabilities across the country and establishing technical and vocational training centers for persons with disabilities and members of martyrs’ families.
Other priorities include food security, providing shelter, creating educational opportunities and scholarships, and equipping and improving centers for persons with disabilities under the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs.
The Economic Deputy Office says representatives of donor organizations and international institutions have pledged to organize and implement their future activities in line with these priorities.

The General Directorate of Statistics and Information has announced that 827,060 electronic national identity cards (e-Tazkiras) were distributed across Afghanistan during the first six months of the current year.
According to the directorate, 600,546 of the recipients were men and 226,524 were women. Kabul recorded the highest number of e-Tazkiras distributed, with 232,696, followed by Herat with 74,180, Nangarhar with 71,825, Kandahar with 47,260, and Balkh with 36,275.
The directorate provides e-Tazkira-related services through 87 Asan Khidmat and e-Tazkira distribution centers across the country, as well as an Asan Khidmat center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The directorate said that since the distribution of e-Tazkiras began, nearly 18.3 million Afghan citizens have received electronic national identity cards.

Fazl Mahmood Fazli, former head of the Administrative Office of the President, has responded to remarks by Mujib Rahman Rahimi, a former spokesperson for the Executive Office of the Republic, saying that portraying Islamabad’s position positively is not only incorrect but also dangerous and, in his view, amounts to deliberately supporting Pakistan’s projects.
He said that supporting Pakistan’s position means supporting the position of colonialism and, according to him, the objective is to keep Afghanistan unstable.
