Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 arrived in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, this evening to participate in the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting.

Upon arrival, he was received by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Kairat Tursunkulov, Ambassador of Pakistan to Kyrgyzstan Ambassador Altamash Wazir, Pakistan’s National Coordinator for the SCO Dr. Muhammad Faisal, and officials of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Later this evening, the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister will attend the informal dinner of the SCO Foreign Ministers, where they will exchange views and discuss the agenda ahead of tomorrow’s Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 attended the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting in Manila today. He congratulated the Philippines on its successful Chairship of ASEAN and the ARF. The DPM/FM reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to peace, dialogue, and multilateral cooperation. Amid growing global uncertainty, he emphasized that diplomacy remains the only sustainable path to lasting peace.

During the ministerial deliberations, the DPM/FM shared Pakistan’s perspective on key regional and global developments. He highlighted Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue and de-escalation during the Iran–US conflict.

The DPM/FM reiterated that lasting peace in South Asia lies in the just resolution of the Jammu & Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions and underscored the importance of upholding the Indus Waters Treaty as a cornerstone of regional peace and stability.

Finance Minister Holds Meetings with IMF Senior Management, Reviews Reform Progress and Macroeconomic Performance

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a series of meetings with the senior management of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), including Mr. Dan Katz, First Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Nigel Clarke, Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Jihad Azour, Director of the IMF's Middle East and Central Asia Department, and Ms. Iva Petrova, Mission Chief for Pakistan.

During the meetings, the Finance Minister reviewed Pakistan's macroeconomic performance and progress under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF), and the broader IMF-supported reform programme.

The Finance Minister highlighted the country's improved fiscal and external balances, achievement of revenue targets, stronger foreign exchange reserves, record remittances, and an improved current account position.

Discussions also covered tax and energy reforms, privatization, tariff rationalization, debt management, diversification of financing sources, and Pakistan's return to international capital markets.

Both sides also exchanged views on human capital development, women's economic participation, demographic challenges, technology-led growth, and private sector-led, export-oriented development.

The Finance Minister concluded the meetings by thanking the Fund for recognizing Pakistan's strong programme ownership and reform progress, while reaffirming the Government's commitment to fiscal discipline, policy credibility, structural reforms, and long-term economic transformation.

Yesterday, I met with Pakistan's Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb. I welcomed Pakistan's progress in restoring macroeconomic stability and advancing key economic reforms. We discussed the importance of sustaining this reform momentum to promote durable growth, strengthen economic self-reliance, and help position Pakistan for a successful return to international capital markets.

President Asif Ali Zardari has extended warmest felicitations to the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and the brotherly people of Egypt on their National Day.

​The President said that Pakistan and Egypt enjoy close and cordial relations, rooted in shared values, mutual trust and long-standing bonds of friendship. He noted that the two countries have maintained a tradition of cooperation and understanding, both bilaterally and in multilateral forums, and continue to work closely on issues of common interest. ​The growing cooperation between the two nations across diverse fields including trade, investment, education, culture, defence and people-to-people exchanges is very encouraging, said the President.

President Zardari stated that Pakistan highly values its relations with Egypt and remains committed to further strengthening this partnership for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries. He appreciated the fact that the leadership of both countries have actively coordinated for resolution of the recent regional conflict and expressed confidence that the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Egypt will continue to deepen in the years ahead, while contributing to regional harmony, sustainable development and greater economic opportunity.
