Today, I had the honor of attending the annual Fianna Fáil Wolfe Tone commemoration at Bodenstown, Co. Kildare.
It's vital to pay tribute to inspiring historical figures like Theobald Wolfe Tone, whose ideals resonate just as strongly today.
We celebrated one of the most unique and impactful figures in our history. Wolfe Tone’s vision remains deeply relevant to all who care about the future of this island.
A heartfelt thank you to An Taoiseach Micheál Martin for his powerful speech.

If we do not move now to protect the two-state solution if we do not work to build a process through which it can be achieved, there may never be another opportunity.
That must not be our legacy to future generations.
Ireland is ready to play its part.
I was delighted to attend the official launch of the new library at Richmond Barracks in Inchicore! The library was inaugurated by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, and it truly is a fantastic place for learning and reading, with a quiet area.

Ms. Munaza Hassan, MNA/Convener of the Pakistan–Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), held an introductory meeting with H.E. Ms. Mary O’Neill, Ambassador of Ireland to Pakistan, at Serena Hotel, Islamabad. The meeting marked a significant step towards strengthening Pakistan–Ireland relations through dynamic parliamentary diplomacy and forward-looking engagement.
Ms. Munaza Hassan appreciated Ambassador O’Neill’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and underscored the importance of working closely in advancing institutional linkages while promoting closer people-to-people ties.
The Convener recalled the parliamentary study visit to Ireland in January 2025, which provided valuable insights into Ireland’s parliamentary best practices and institutional culture. She noted that such exchanges lay the foundation for durable and constructive parliamentary cooperation.
Ms. Hassan informed that the Pakistan–Ireland PFG comprises 18 cross-party members from the National Assembly. She extended an invitation to Ambassador O’Neill to visit the Parliament House for an interaction with the Group at a mutually convenient date. She also proposed convening a virtual introductory meeting between the two PFGs as a first step towards building structured, long-term parliamentary engagement.
The Convener highlighted the importance of parliamentary platforms for women’s empowerment and suggested exploring opportunities for cooperation between the Women’s Parliamentary Caucuses of both countries. She emphasized the value of sharing experiences on inclusive legislation and gender-sensitive governance.
Drawing attention to the central role of parliamentary committees in legislative reforms, Ms. Hassan underlined the need for collaboration on climate change policy. She stressed that Pakistan and Ireland could work closely in advancing sustainable practices, climate-resilient governance and renewable energy initiatives.
The Convener appreciated the vibrant Pakistani diaspora of over 30,000 individuals residing in Ireland, acknowledging their contribution to Ireland’s progress and their role as a bridge in strengthening bilateral relations.
Both sides explored avenues for joint initiatives in agricultural innovation and research. Ms. Hassan underscored the potential of technology transfer, modern farming techniques and sustainable agriculture as key areas of cooperation.
Ambassador O’Neill welcomed the proposals and reaffirmed Ireland’s readiness to deepen its partnership with Pakistan. She highlighted Ireland’s free primary education law and welcomed the prospects of joint research, climate resilience initiatives, and parliamentary exchange programmes. She also conveyed her intent to meet with the Pakistan–Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group at a mutually convenient date, in addition to holding a virtual meeting between both counterpart groups.
The Ambassador underscored Ireland’s strong commitment to environmental education, noting that the Green Schools initiative, embedded in the national school curriculum for several years, serves as a model for fostering sustainability from an early age and reflects Ireland’s steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability.
Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen Pakistan–Ireland relations through structured parliamentary diplomacy, enhanced institutional linkages and sustained collaboration across diverse sectors.
