Must read thread 🧵: Especially to understand issues with the mega projects.
1. In Pakistan, the government often borrows extensively from domestic banks & international institutions to finance large-scale infrastructure projects like motorways.
@inspirdanalyst I am an Inspector with four years of service, but my salary is still less than 100k. On the other hand, there are inspectors, such as FIA inspectors, who earn more than Rs. 200k in addition to other perks and privileges. There is huge wage differences among different departments.
Congrats! new min wage in Pakistan is a massive 165 USD!
Cherry on top? no one will follow! Labor works at 800-1000/day, teaching jobs START at 35-40k, internships still unpaid!
BONUS: You pay more than US for fuel, while having one of the worst Tax-to-GDP ratios in the world!
Fines should be 0.1% of car price!
For the same violation:
It would be Rs10,000 for Jaeco J7, 1Cr vehicle vs Rs500 for 5 lac rickshaw.
Impact both and change their future habits...
issuing a Rs 2000 fine to a rickshaw driver for a lane violation is equivalent to depriving his family of two days meal. To say that the law is equal for everyone and that all should comply is an insensitive argument. For a person driving 4×4 this amount is like peanuts.
Then why doesn't this standard apply when someone talks about Professors at the University?
Govt. claims low salaries of Professors at the University is okay as quality stays the same!!!
I am one of the biggest critics of government policies, but some people are objecting to the post below. My point is that everything should be judged through fair comparison and with perspective.
Below is an article posted a few years back by @ProPakistaniPK. You can see the salaries of CEOs/presidents of other private banks at that time, and you can easily imagine what they must be earning now.
Without offering a competitive salary, how can you expect better performance or attract a competent professional in the same industry, especially when other banks are offering many times higher salaries for the same position?

It would be the only good thing by this unpopular government & establishment.
However, highly doubt they would be doing it seriously.
Only amendments for one's own extension, making government & changing power were necessary ones & passed quickly.
Islamophobic attack killed 3 in San Diego, USA mosque!
Attackers were brainwashed haters of the Muslims...
Uncontrolled hate against Muslims by the extreme right wing is the main reason for this kind of brainwashing.
FBR failed to meet its initial tax collection target in 16 out of 18 years.
Weak tax administration and failure to document the economy have repeatedly shifted the burden toward already taxed segments, particularly salaried individuals and corporates.
A Business Recorder opinion piece citing a World Bank policy note observed that Pakistan’s tax/GDP ratio has fallen from ~14% in the 1980s to around 10-12% today despite estimated tax capacity exceeding 22% of GDP.
Dr. Shamshad Akhtar also highlighted Pakistan’s potential to raise tax/GDP toward the regional average of 15-20%.
The World Bank estimates that federal reforms, agricultural taxation, and land taxation alone could generate an additional 5-6% of GDP in revenues over time.
@ahmed_bakht00 Not really, the salary of an assistant Professor was very decent from 2006 and they stayed competitive till 2011.
It was the highest in the region, attracting the best talent to universities. Later started decreasing in USD terms.
2006 approved salaries, when USD was Rs60.
In 2017, starting salary of Assistant Professor was Rs100,000, approx. $1000. Lecturer at university: Rs55000, ~$550.
In 2026, Salary of Assistant Professor: Rs 130,000, ~$467. Lecturer: Rs70,000, ~$251.
Even for 0% GDP growth, negative trend in per Capita income for academia.
What kind of nautanki is this man? 😭
Instead of planting trees, they have made cooling zones with Modi’s big face where people are wiping sweat off the faces of people forcefully 😭😭😭
Exports Pakistan
FY22: $31.78 Billion
After 4 years, where India & Bangladesh had consistent 5%-7% export growth, Pakistan has it too for FY21,FY22.
It should be $41.65 Billion, just following the same export growth trend.
However, expected for FY26 is $29.5 Billion
The cracks in Pakistan’s economy are looking far bigger than expected.
0% export growth in 4 years from FY22 is hitting this economic model.
IMF/Saudia dependence model is devastating.
Brent oil is just up 45%, with same currency rate, Petrol prices in Pakistan are up by 66%.
When Afghans were being deported from Pakistan, despite being born there, building businesses there, and having families rooted there for decades, many Pakistanis celebrated it as if humanity had no value.
I warned them then: don’t celebrate someone else’s humiliation and suffering… Karma is real.
Today, hearing the same cries over deportations from the UAE feels like history holding up a mirror. The pain you laugh at today may return to your own doorstep tomorrow.
#Karma #UAE #Pakistan
🇵🇰 should not have taken sides between Saudia & UAE!
Both are economical & strategically important countries for Pakistan.
People with low diplomatic essence may portray closeness to one as success
but learning from India/China, neutrality help & yield more benefits in long.
