@Letter_to_Jack Well, I bought mine for less than 2m and sold for 8m in ~ 3 years and it didn’t take up to a week from the time I decided to sell to the time that the buyer dropped cash.
I had just 13 million naira when I bought my car for 12 million naira. I had 1 million naira left.
I tried to keep it low but my very close friend spread the news.
Friends and acquaintances who had not reached out in months suddenly appeared. My fridge that was loaded with drinks, both alcohol and non alcoholic, got emptied. My wine bar felt it too. I paid my neighbours to cook for 3 days straight because people kept coming. Billings were flying from left to right.
I went broke in less than a week after buying the car. But as a sharp guy, nobody knew.
When the accident happened and I posted it on my status, not one of them sent a dime. Not for my treatment. Not for the car.
I am not entitled to their support. But I believe in reciprocity. If someone has been good to you, it is only right you show goodness back.
I am glad I no longer fall for touching stories the way I used to. The same people who show up when you are doing well will disappear the moment things go south.
I help people. But never at the detriment of my savings or investments.
Above all, love God.
You're a Man. Act broke. Delete food delivery apps. Drive a modest car. Live in a cheap apartment. Keep a simple wardrobe. Ignore anybody’s judgment. Stack up cash. Invest. Set yourself up for life.
Today, I visited our online advisor and engineer.
To cut a long story short, I think I’ll start building a house too.
I have a half plot I bought in December 2020.
they might not like this, but there is a level of wealth you will reach or amass where you will receive a call.
and look, nobody will invite you when you’re still getting there or still on your way to the top. no one will call but mind you, your success, activities and steps are being strictly monitored cos once you are a few steps away from that top-tier milestone, a call will come in and a static voice will make you an offer.
if you reject that offer, that is where your success gets a ceiling or your career ends.
the bottom line is, there’s a level of wealth you’ll reach where, if you are not ready to play games, like real, brutal, cynical games, just quietly respect yourself and remain at the mid-tier level. otherwise, you’ll pay dearly if you keep pushing.
3 of my favourite laws:
Law 9: Win through your Actions, Never through Argument
Law 35: Master the Art of Timing
Law 46: Never Appear Too Perfect
What I like about these three is that they all come down to one thing: how you manage perception.
NORMALIZE THIS BY AGE 25-49:
1) Speak slowly.
2) Speak clearly.
3) Never mumble.
4) Use fewer words.
5) Don't interrupt.
6) Express complex ideas simply.
7) Listen 2x more than you speak.
This is how you master communication.
As a man, by age of 30 you must have:
1. Passport.
2. Driver’s license.
4. An active bank account.
3. At least $20,000 in savings.
5. A smart phone and laptop.
6. A baby even if you’re not married.
7. One stable source of income.
What have you achieved so far?
Write out your notes, sleep from 9–12, wake up at 12 a.m. with your energy drink by your side, read your notes, rewrite them, rewrite them again, then paste the whole PDF into ChatGPT and ask it to pool questions from every single angle. Try answering those questions from your head. Any question you can’t answer, skip and come back to it. It works like mad.
I generally think car should come first for a young graduate doing corporate (9-5) work. Adds to the dignity.
But for less educated artisans, there is no harm if car does not come first.
This is because, at some point in your 9-5 career (if a decent one), you can own a house with less struggle. You are highly unlikely to afford a house in a decent place in your first few years by the way. So why sacrifice owning a car (which is much easier) for all that.
Business case study
Jarus Homes started in Lagos in 2022.
We expanded to Abuja in late 2023. We have small presence in Offa, my hometown, too.
Based on these charts (info covered 2022-2026), which city should we intensify efforts on?
Man to man
▪︎ Wake up early whether you like it or not. Sleep is a luxury you earn.
▪︎ Cut porn. It's frying your discipline and making you soft.
▪︎ Lift heavy weights 4 to 6 days a week. Track numbers. If they're not going up, you're lying.
▪︎ Eat boring food. Same meals. Protein first. Pleasure later.
▪︎ Stop explaining yourself. Explanations are for people above you.
▪︎ Learn one high-income skill and go all in. No backup plans. Backups make cowards.
▪︎ Kill useless friendships. If they don't push money, discipline or growth, they're dead weight.
▪︎ Get comfortable being alone. Loneliness is training, not a problem.
▪︎ Read contracts, finance, power, psychology. Fiction won't save you.
▪︎ Build an emergency fund. No one rescues grown men.
▪︎ Stop chasing women. Build a life that attracts them accidentally.
▪︎ Control your temper. Emotional men get manipulated.
▪︎ Dress clean and simple. No logos. No noise. Let silence flex.
▪︎ Learn to say no without guilt.
▪︎ Track your time like money. Wasted hours are stolen years.
▪︎ Fix your posture. Weak body language bleeds into weak decisions.
▪︎ Quit alcohol if you can't control it. If it controls you, it owns you.
▪︎ Learn how to fight or learn how to run fast. Ideally both.
▪︎ Pay your debts aggressively. Owing money kills respect.
▪︎ Keep your mouth shut about plans. Execute first.
▪︎ Accept that no one cares about your struggles. Act accordingly.
▪︎ Build something that pays you while you sleep. If not, you're replaceable.
▪︎ Call your parents. One day you won't be able to.
▪︎ Stop waiting for motivation. Operate on schedule.
▪︎ Become physically dangerous but mentally calm.
▪︎ Respect yourself so hard the world has no choice but to adjust.
That's it. No inspiration. Just work.
If you want to make the most progress you've ever made in your life, you need to be alone. You need an extended period of isolation, not influenced by friends or media, spent building your future. You need space to learn, think, experiment, and fail.
Give yourself 6 months. Focus solely on the development of your mind, body, spirit, and finances. This is how you get ahead of most people.
Right advice, wrong tool if you're stacking cash in a money market fund and calling it risk.
Time is the actual asset you have when you're young. Not courage, not luck. Time.
That's why equities make sense here. You can ride out a crash because you're not touching the money for 10, 20 years.
A money market fund protects capital. Good for your emergency fund, not your future.
An equity fund, or a solid dividend stock, grows with the businesses inside it. Banks, telcos, consumer goods, the ones actually making money in this economy.
Put 5,000 naira a month into an equity fund at 22 versus 45. Same discipline, wildly different outcome. Compounding needs decades to work, and decades are the one thing you have right now that you'll never have again.
Play safe with your emergency fund. Play long with everything else.
