A 26-year-old in Berlin pointed Claude Code at 4,200 Obsidian notes.

The vault became an employee that never sleeps.

Most people treat Obsidian as a graveyard. Notes go in. Nothing comes out.

He did 1 thing differently: made the vault the brain, not the archive.

The setup takes 20 minutes:

Open your vault folder in the terminal. Run Claude Code inside it. Done. Every note is now context.

Drop a CLAUDE.md at the root. 30 lines: who you are, what you build, how your notes link. Claude reads it before every session.

Give it write access. Now it doesn't just answer. It files. New idea → new note, tagged, linked, placed.

What changed in 60 days:

he asks "what did I think about pricing in March" and gets 6 linked notes back in 40 seconds every client call transcript lands in the vault. Claude drafts the follow-up before he stands up his content calendar builds itself from 200 old notes he forgot he wrote 0 new tools. 0 subscriptions. Plain markdown, Claude's native language

The part nobody says out loud:

RAG startups charge $99 a month to do this badly. Obsidian is a folder of text files. Claude Code is a terminal inside a folder of text files.

They were built for each other by accident.
