When @poetclare found out I was embarking on a translation project, she asked me to write an essay to accompany a couple of the Tape Letters poems; it was published in the winter 2021 issue of @MPTmagazine. The preface is an adaptation of that essay.

It’s lovely to have a poem in this issue of the @thedarkhorsemag, especially this one which touches on the dysmetropsia I had as a child, memories of which I’d entirely suppressed until I heard @ryuichisakamoto’s Tama and it all came flooding back. That’s ekphrasis for you.
