@DaveOshry IT WAS MAGIC BROTHER. WHEN I SLAMMED ANDRE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FRONT OF ALL 5000000 SCREAMING HULKAMANIACS AND TORE EVERY MUSCLE IN MY BACK, I KEPT WORKING THE NEXT DAY DUDE.
I guess what I wanna say is that we exist. We're human. We are more than a diagnosis. And we should be treated as much, not just by our peers but by the state.
Might chuck down more later but that's what I got.
When I need to look at every plan to see if I can physically do it (and sometimes that info isn't available/accurate) it gets exhausting! It's real tiring to feel as though the place in which you live does not facilitate your existence. To feel like you are a burden.

...places most people take for granted aren't able to be used by a lot of us, even in fairly accessible places (god help you if you're disabled in a rural town). And when you're getting gatekept from basic needs and the most fundamental of leisure activities, it sucks! (5/?)
That said, I wish Oliver and his team expanded further. "Disability" is a protected class, but so often that's only in theory. My local library growing up was multiple stores, with no elevator or other accommodations. Apartment buildings, stadiums, schools, cities - so many (4/?)
I didn't know about SSI until, like, 2 years ago. As far as I'm aware, my application was denied, despite living with cerebral Palsy all my life. I'm lucky in that I'm able to take care of myself for the most part. Many people aren't.

...that disabled people face. Frankly, we don't often have advocates in high places - the disabled population, to me, anyway, feels like it's deeply ignored, even in a post-ADA America. Many of us aren't even aware of SSI/SSDI, despite ostensibly being eligible. (2/?)

Just watched the John Oliver Disability Benefits video, and I definitely have some thoughts I feel like sharing. Most of them are probably gonna be pretty disorganized.
For one, I was very glad to see a mainstream outlet talking about some of the issues (1/?)
@tha_rami any other country calls for "de-escalation through escalation", and we call it like we see it. it is unbelievably disheartening to hear radio silence from elected officials (or, if we do hear anything, a sugarcoated assurance that we'll stick with the status quo)
Right now I’m looking for quick commissions to get done this week.
Twitter headers, YouTube thumbnails, social media graphics. You won’t find anyone better.
