current mood 🥳🎉🧁✨😳
*the book* is really real now, signed with @AlgonquinBooks to write about zoom fatigue, vaguebooking, crying selfies, roomba attachment styles, emotion-detecting autos, sensory augmentation, depression memes, and all the feels we feel online
Last day for SXSW voting! It only takes a minute to make an account and vote and it really does make a difference because who among us hasn't had AI feelings?!

Ever heard of "nomophobia"? It’s the anxiety we feel when away from our phones. Instead of shaming ourselves for needing "discipline" or choosing between constant scrolling vs. a total digital detox, we should explore more balanced ways to live with our technology. 📱💡
This was discussed in our recent "All the Feels" SuperSalon, where we explored the power of emotional granularity with author @paminthelab, hosted by @HalderAlaka.
Brain fry 🤯 screen apnea 😵💫 phantom vibration syndrome - technology evokes neo-emotions. But it can also enrich our emotions. How? Read my interview with Prof. Pamela Pavliscak @paminthelab 👉 https://t.co/3pdn0Xrj8s
Do you suffer from slop recoil or epistemological vertigo? You might be experiencing a New Feeling of the AI Era!
In which case, you should vote for my proposed SXSW talk about the extremely specific feelings emerging around AI 👇

I went on BBC Instant Genius to talk about screen time, memes, AI chatbots, and the many feelings caused by carrying a tiny glowing portal to humanity in your pocket.
Technology remixes emotions in all kinds of interesting ways. Have a listen!
Were our emotions truly just biological, or were we the architects of our own feelings? 🧠
We explored the power of emotional granularity with author @@paminthelab, hosted by @HalderAlaka, in our recent "All the Feels" SuperSalon.
We discovered why naming our emotions was key to better understanding ourselves.
AI weirdness is different from AI slop. Slop hides the machine inside synthetic sincerity. Weird AI lets the seams show and prompts us to be a little weirder too.
Instead of telling us to log off and "touch grass," design researcher
@paminthelab wants to rethink how we live online.
She's joining host @HalderAlaka to discuss her new book, "All the Feels", mapping out how the digital world can actually enrich our emotions and human connections rather than destroy them.

starting to think the weirdest part of AI isn’t what it does
it’s the emotional sequence of using it
ask for help → relief → wow this is good → wait… should I have done that → ok I’ll just use it → why do I feel slightly bad → don’t tell anyone
anyway
The rest of the students nodded along like she’d just shared a life hack they were already in on. Apparently, whimsy now includes light algorithmic sabotage.
I wrote more about strategic whimsy #fridayfeeling

In class, a student presented a weak signal titled “Strategic Whimsy.” I assumed this was satire. Nope.
She explained that when her feed starts to feel psychic, she deliberately searches for something random like moss terrariums or vintage wigs. “It throws it off my trail.” ⬇️
ALL THE FEELS - about how the internet has changed human emotions - by @paminthelab is coming!

The book culminates in a discussion about @interintellect_ — very moved and excited!
We haven’t been discussed in a serious book since @shl’s in 2021 📚🥹🙏🏻🎉
We all have those "read later" tabs that have been open for months. Why do we keep them?
@paminthelab invites you to a curiosity lab where we investigate our digital habits. Join us to discover the stories we share in our browsers.
