The most crucial moment of incarceration is not the day someone goes in.
It is the first 90 days after they come home.
I know this because I lived it.

In 2010, I was released from federal prison after serving 60 months. No money. No connections. No blueprint. Just grey sweatpants, a white T shirt, and a decision to never go back.

A new episode of Conversations with Why Not Mindset is live.
I sat down with Caroline Georgiou for a powerful conversation about Innerdance, healing beyond words, and what it means to reconnect the body and nervous system after trauma and incarceration.
Progress doesn’t always look pretty. Sometimes it looks like grinding forward when everything says slow down but quitting is not an option.
Here’s to a bad one for the books.
Still moving. Still grateful. Still going.

Some days the road reminds you who’s really in control.
Snow packed. Ice glazed. Hands tight on the wheel.
No shortcuts. No coasting. Just focus, patience, and respect for the conditions.
You don’t get the good days without earning your way through the bad ones.
The smooth miles only mean something because of days like this.
White knuckles. Slow miles. One decision at a time.
What started as an idea rooted in lived experience has grown into a message that is now being shared throughout the community. This is not about recognition. It is about representation. It is about showing people that transformation is real, second chances are possible.
This conversation means a great deal to me.
Grateful to @DavidLeegarlock for sharing his story with me and for the courage it takes to speak from lived experience.
This clip is a reminder that our scars carry wisdom, our stories have power
