This is not 2001. This is Afghanistan in 2026.
Remember all those who claimed the Taliban had changed? That they were no longer the Taliban of 1996–2001?
The Taliban of today are not reformed. They are more systematic in their repression, more ruthless in their cruelty, and more determined than ever to erase women from public life.
Afghan women asked for education, work, freedom, dignity, and the right to exist as human beings.
The response? Bullets, prisons, and fear.
Imagine living under a regime that sees a woman’s face, her voice, her dreams, and her future as a threat.
History will remember the courage of Afghan women. It will also remember those who chose silence, normalization, and engagement while that courage was being crushed.

Had this young man threatened to butcher schoolgirls while invoking Andrew Tate or any of the other manosphere grievance goblins, the ideological dimension would have dominated headlines.

@japan_nobunaga With that criteria, California. It is remarkable for how much it has to offer. Even it's coastline which is so different from southern to middle to northern. Vast forests, incredible rivers, Mojave desert, ski resorts. Can't afford it now and so badly run, but my goodness.

@karenvaites@Doug_Lemov Grew up with my mom's Bombs k books. I just got my niece with 2 kids "Just wait till you have children of your own". For my list, I think I need Agatha Christe and maybe Conan Doyle. Some simpler pleasure reading with brain teasers in the mix.
There are still people who get excited to show you a cool rock they found, a strangely shaped cloud, a tiny frog, a pretty leaf, or a sky full of stars. That’s the kind of energy I want around me for the rest of my life.
Every time I see a female athlete welcomed home with this level of love it reinforces my commitment to advocate for their safety, dignity and fairness.
It is wonderful!

As when a husband & wife, united by oneness of mind in their thinking,
Keep their home together—a great bane to their enemies,
A blessing to their friends, & their renown is on everyone's lips.”

You have far too much time if you, a middle aged objectively rotund man, spend a beautiful Saturday morning protesting a girl in her mid twenties by saying she should've swam faster 4 years ago because she didn't want to a man in the locker room.
Seek therapy.
In Japan you can eat dinner in a booth
designed so no one ever looks at you.
One seat. A small curtain.
A wall on each side.
You order by ticket.
A pair of hands slides the food through.
You never make eye contact with a soul.
The internet thinks this is sad.
It's the opposite.
Japan looked at the lonely person —
the one too tired to perform,
too drained to make small talk —
and didn't pity them.
It built them a seat.
With dignity.
And really good ramen.
