A 22-year-old woman residing alone in a gated apartment complex in Bengaluru hosted a small, quiet get-together with a few friends at her own flat. There was no loud music or disturbance.
But the gathering drew the attention of “society uncles,” who were probably keeping a watch on her daily routine, and who confronted her late at night, questioning her conduct and her right to have guests. They told her that bachelors aren’t allowed in the society and asked her to call the owner of the house. When she calmly told them that she herself was the owner of the flat and was not violating any rule, the situation escalated further, with several committee members entering her home without consent, accusing her of drinking and smoking.
Parts of this confrontation were captured on CCTV cameras installed inside her flat for safety, footage that later became central to her case. The society members eventually called the police, but after verifying that no nuisance was being created and that the woman owned the flat, the cops took no action.
Rather than letting the episode pass, she chose to pursue legal remedies, sending notices for harassment, trespass, and intimidation. An urgent society meeting was called the same evening, where video footage from her living-room camera was screened before residents. Following this, the accused members were removed from their positions on the society board and fined Rs 20,000 each for violating bylaws. A written apology was issued to her.
She was not letting it pass this easy though. Next, she filed a ₹62-lakh civil suit, seeking compensation for mental trauma and reputational harm, along with a permanent injunction to prevent further interference.
I hope she wins. This case will be landmark in India because it legally challenges the unchecked authority of RWAs, clearly establishing that society committees have no right to police personal behaviour inside a privately owned home. By treating moral policing as actionable civil harassment with financial consequences, it will set a deterrent precedent and strengthen individual residential autonomy.

India will open the massive new Noida airport on Oct 30
Just felt like randomly telling you a story about Germany that Dhruv Rathee will probably never tell you
In the early 2000s, Berlin needed a new airport. Anyone who has seen the prison like old Berlin Tegel Airport would say that
So the Germans decided to build the cool new Berlin Brandenburg Airport.
Everything was ready for the inauguration on June 3, 2012.
Politicians were ready, media was ready, even the flight schedules had been announced.
Days before opening, they started the final inspections. They realized *nothing* was working
The automatic doors, the lights. The whole airport was a fire hazard. The wiring was wrong, everything was wrong.
It was so bad that they had to stop the inauguration. The brand new airport did not see a single flight. It took another 8 YEARS of repairs.
Yes, you read that correctly.
EIGHT years of repairs for a brand new airport that was set to be inaugurated.
The airport finally opened in 2020.
Has Dhruv Rathee told you about this side of Germany?
You are probably hearing this story for the first time. Did you see international media heckling Germany for this? Did you ever see reels and youtube videos mocking Germany?
But every day, every last pothole in India goes viral with millions of views.

All of that is true, but India and the USA won't be able to build a truly capable alliance if they don't have each others back in times of crisis.
#OperationSindoor showed the USA hasn't learnt any lessons.
The USA is crowing about mediating, but India simply wants it to put pressure on Pakistan to stop terrorism for good. USA is failing to do it. Instead, the USA is using India's pain as a bargaining chip for trade...

On December 5, 1971, the Dawn reported that Pakistan had downed 49 Indian jets in a single day.

A🧵ON BLUFF
Another day, another institutionalised harassment of a civil servant.
Businessman Sanam Kapoor, franchise owner of La Pino’z Pizza, went to the CBI complaining that Shri Amit Kumar Singhal, IRS, Addl DG, Directorate of Taxpayer Services, New Delhi, was demanding a bribe of ₹45 lakh to prevent his “harassment” and legal trouble from IT dept.
Now, Sanam Kapoor is a rich man. If he was getting peace of mind in just ₹45 lakh, out of which ₹25 lakh had already been paid, why did he get so selfish and go to the CBI just to save another ₹20 lakh?
The CBI laid a trap and caught this honest officer red-handed. Singhal was arrested from his Vasant Kunj residence, along with his sahyogi.
Subsequent raids at his homes in Mohali and Delhi led to massive recoveries, including 3.5 kg of gold, 2 kg of silver, ₹1 crore in cash, bank locker keys, documents related to multiple bank accounts, and details of properties in Delhi, Mumbai, Ludhiana, Bathinda, and other cities.
And what did Sanam Kapoor really achieve here? Just to save ₹20 lakh, he cost the nation an honest public servant who only wanted to bring change, work hard, and make people's lives better. Sure, he started with improving his own life, but trust me, he would've gotten around to society eventually. Why else would he have said so in his UPSC interview?

Shame on SBI for transferring the lady and giving more energy to such Language Goons.
Why shld employees of SBI, Railways or any nationalised public jobs suffer like this?
She was not working in Karnataka Govt or Karnataka only bank, neither was selected in Kannada quota.
Why doesn't South States make rule that anyone getting posting there should take language training before joining?
Why should the employees suffer?
Several Karnataka, Tamil, Kerala people work in North India. My teachers in Bihar were from Kerala. They didn't knew Hindi.
Never seen anyone forcing them.
In the SBI video, the bank manager proclaims, 'This is India, ' while the disgruntled customer sticks to his 'this is Karnataka, so Kannada' argument. The customer is wrong on three fronts. Constitution. Geography. Common sense. SBI should close his account for misbehaviour.
Bangalore is drowning. Meanwhile both Govt and opposition are obsessed about an SBI employee not speaking Kannada. No official has been held accountable for all rhe water logging but Yay! the SBI employee has been transferred.
Many MBBS graduates come to Delhi for SRship in AIIMS Delhi,So should we also start asking if you don’t know Hindi you are not eligible for SRship in Delhi??
This is just so wrong @Tejasvi_Surya
You're a people's representative, not Kannada representative. There are people speaking in Kannada over there as evident in video but this customer is creating scene unnecessarily. Banking is a transferable job. How can someone posted there from outside learn Kannada? How many languages will people have to learn then ? A translator can be requested if someone can't speak anything but native language but on what account are u asking for action against the officer?
The biggest problem with BJP netas is that they don't know when to SHUT UP
@Tejasvi_Surya When @narendramodi ji @AmitShah ji will come to Karnataka and address public rally, What will you say to him. Speak Local language?
@JPNadda pls control these people
ठीक है @Tejasvi_Surya जी? Period.
