When CGI first emerged in the world of traditional 2d animation, it was highly disrespected. I remember, Cmm-Lintas animators used to laugh at us then, many believed computers were doing most of the work. In reality, early CGI demanded immense artistic skill and painstaking labor due to early below the average 3d software's. (before 3d max and alias) Tools like texture maps and photographic references were once dismissed as shortcuts. Something similar may be happening with AI today.
