@weheaa You seem like a nice person so I’ll answer earnestly: you’re right that a job is a necessity, but some jobs are more difficult with tight deadlines that Need to be done well. Social cohesion at work makes this easier on everyone so social rules are considered in the interview

As an older Gen Z who now has to hire people, I now fully understand having rules to select for “people who are capable of being mildly uncomfortable in front of company.” Really hard to have a functional workplace without this trait.

Re: jobs: Life experience here. A job that hired you that didn’t care about how you presented yourself, were sipping on a drink and checking your phone during the interview is likely to be a FAR more toxic place to work than one where you had to follow social norms for 20 minutes
