Thousands of people from various parts of the state participated in this massive protest. Senior party leaders addressed the gathering, vehemently opposing the injustice done to Odisha through the MMDR Act and demanding its withdrawal.
Addressing the huge gathering BJD leader Sujata Rout said, "Odisha’s unprecedented rise in mineral revenue from Rs 5,000 crore to Rs 50,000 crore is the result of Naveen Patnaik’s sustained fight for Odisha’s rightful share, not the BJP’s achievement. Otherwise, Odisha could have suffered huge revenue losses, like other mineral-rich states such as Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka".
Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, she said, “The BJP’s remote control lies in the hands of the Centre, while the BJD’s remote control lies in the hands of 4.5 crore Odias.” She further said that the fight against the controversial MMDR Act 2026 would reach Delhi to protect the rights and future of Odisha’s Gen Z.
