If I may borrow a moment of your time.
Watching #ironmouse 's performance, I was thinking back on all the stuff she has talked about over the years; dreams, fears, loneliness, depression, a desire to belong.
Seeing where she started, just wanting to be a part of something to feel less alone and trapped by an Illness that no one could have foresaw, put into a world where she had thought she lost everything and was doomed to just exist, and to take the opportunities she was given and rise to where she is now it's really inspiring.
I know vTubers aren't everyone's cup of tea, but even still her story should be an inspiration to anyone who suffers from chronic as of now uncurable diseases and deals with everything that comes with them. Did she get lucky with how she got here? Sure, but luck is only part of the tremendous amount of hard work she has put in on and off the screen.
For me it's inspiring because of my illness it traps me in my house most of the time, to the point that I can go days without hearing a human voice not coming from a computer, and possibly even longer without opening my mouth to speak. You feel the isolation set in sometimes, but ironmouse's story and her dedication is one that lets me know that I am not my illness. I have an illness, and I can do so many things apart from it, will it hinder me sometimes? Sure. But like eating the wrong meal at a Denny's can take man down for a few days too, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't do our best to push on through it (in the case of Denny's to push it on out, never again).
I've honestly met a lot of inspiring people since being trapped, many of which with chronic illnesses that would seemingly hold them back, but they don't allow it, and neither should I. Like this weekend, I may not be able to go out a lot, but I still managed to go out into my garage, open the door and just enjoy nature while reading. I've tried to start calling people rather than just texting so I can hear a voice respond back to me. I've tried so many silly little things since coming across so many new personalities. Will I ever get to know any of them? Probably not, but that is totally fine. Inspiration doesn't have to come from those who are close, like I am inspired by the works and life of Mother Teresa, will I ever meet her? Dawg, she's super dead, of course not.
Plus, being Parasocial and thinking there is a two way street between those whom inspire you and yourself is kinda cringe.
So, having said all that. I just want to thank people out there like ironmouse and their supporters/friends/family who fight against the tide the world pushes on them and are able to rise through it all.
In the end, it really lets you know, while rough, there is a little light you can always climb toward.
