Jaylen Brown rubbed some people in Boston the wrong way with his twitch streams, his push to be viewed as Jayson Tatum’s equal, and his claim that last season was his best, per @SIChrisMannix
“Brown’s frequent Twitch streams caused some headaches in Boston’s front office and his claim that last season was his favorite—besting, you know, the 2024 run that ended in a championship—didn’t go over well with the fan base. Behind the scenes there was plenty of grumbling about Brown’s desire to be viewed as a basketball equal to Jayson Tatum.”

Jaylen Brown is a great NBA player. I think he's probably one of the 25-35 best players in the NBA. That's nothing to sneeze at.
But Boston's point differential has been worse with him on the floor in each of the last four and six of the last eight seasons. You can explain one or two away (as Boston fans so passionately have), but that's a long track record.
His assist-to-turnover ratio is bad. He's a high-volume shooter with a below-average true shooting percentage.
He more than makes up for his flaws in other ways. Again, he's great. But pretending like he was going to be worth a superstar trade package, especially when leverage was killed by what seemed like a public campaign to be traded, was just setting fans up to be angry.
LeBron James is willing to accept a minimum contract to play for a contender, per @ShamsCharania
He doesn't intend to make a "financially-driven decision"
Jaylen Brown went OFF on stream 👀
“C’mon, everyone knows I’m the best player in the league. Been Robin long enough. It’s time to lead a team to a championship.”
I had to revisit this because this is so bad and corny. Josh Hart is by no means a Hooper. Specifically what we consider to be a Hooper in the NBA context. No bag. Not a shot creator. Not a Hooper. He's not a crazy knockdown shooter either.
So one would ask "why is he still in the league?" And it's because the white nerdy unathletic guys have figured that the team is better when he is on the court. He provides so much more than the traditional box score would lead to believe. This is why we should not only continue to have him on the court, but maybe shift our lineup philosophy around to feature a guy who is 6 foot five at the power forward. Analytics love, Josh Hart. And in the era that he and some of the other others are champion, they would throw him away.
I hate people who are anti-math and science, but then use math and science in their everyday lives without acknowledging math and science. Maybe I need to listen to the full episode, which I will, to get the full context, but this was a great opportunity for them to have a full and nuance conversation that seemingly is wasted because agendas need to be pushed

Rich Paul says the spurs don’t need to keep their core together and they have the potential to be like the old spurs . De'Aaron Fox is Tony Parker . Stephon castle is Kawhi Leonard . Dylan harper is Manu ginobli and Victor Wembanyama is Tim Duncan . You just need a big man
