The United States Constitution – In Plain English

Preamble

We the People formed our government to unite the states, establish justice, ensure peace, provide common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure liberty for ourselves and our posterity.

Article I – Congress
Congress makes the laws. It has two chambers: the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Powers include: passing laws, levying taxes, controlling spending, declaring war, regulating commerce, establishing immigration rules, creating lower courts, maintaining the military, and impeaching officials.

Article II – The President
The President executes the laws.
Key powers: Commander in Chief, signs/vetoes bills, appoints judges/ambassadors/Cabinet, negotiates treaties (Senate approval needed), grants pardons, and conducts foreign policy.

Article III – The Courts
The Judicial Branch interprets the law. The Supreme Court is the highest court. Federal judges serve for life (during good behavior) to maintain independence.

Article IV – The States
States must honor each other’s laws and court rulings. Citizens receive equal treatment across state lines. Congress can admit new states.

Article V – Amending the Constitution
The Constitution can be amended with broad national agreement.

Article VI – Supreme Law
The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. Officials must swear to support it. No religious test for office.

Article VII – Ratification
The Constitution took effect after ratification by the required number of states.

The Bill of Rights

Amendment I — Freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition.

Amendment II — Right to keep and bear arms.

Amendment III — No forced quartering of soldiers in peacetime.

Amendment IV — Protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.

Amendment V — Due process, no double jeopardy, no self-incrimination, grand jury, just compensation.

Amendment VI — Speedy public trial, impartial jury, counsel, confront witnesses.

Amendment VII — Jury trial in many civil cases.

Amendment VIII — No excessive bail, fines, or cruel/unusual punishment.

Amendment IX — Rights not listed are still retained by the people.

Amendment X — Powers not given to the federal government are reserved to the states or the people.

🚨 TEACH REAL AMERICAN HISTORY OR LOSE THE COUNTRY: We’re at a breaking point. Too many Americans, especially the young, have no clue what makes this nation exceptional.

Polls show only 53% are proud to be American. Gen Z? Half think understanding our history and founding principles isn’t even important. Democrats at rock bottom.

We grew up with civics, G.I. Joe duty, Little House self-reliance, Schoolhouse Rock, Top Gun, Apollo 13, celebrating achievement, not just obsessing over sins. 
Our principles are what ended slavery, segregation, and pushed civil rights.

Schools stopped teaching the good with the bad. Now radicals want to erase Western civilization entirely.

If we don’t pass on the truth to the next generation, we won’t have another 250 years.
