Look I understand where you're coming from, but in my opinion. Nothing much has changed. Whatever numbers we had in police killings, we have on black on black murders or more. Whichever places we couldn't go or neighbourhoods we weren't wanted in. Today we can't afford to go to or live in them. There was Bantu education then, today there are schools with no resources, literacy rates have dropped. Where we had bad jobs then, there aren't any jobs now. Our parents could buy homes with all those disadvantages from Apartheid, today with all our freedoms we can't buy homes. So I can go on and on. We can agree to disagree. I don't support Apartheid. I just don't see the constant need to compare as if we're better off now.
@Nka_Metro@TumishoMasha What I mean is that the majority of the black people vote for the ANC,whether their numbers have declined is of no consequence. They still keep this party in power and relevant. Which means they are happy. And we all pay the price. They get grants, we get taxed to kingdom come.
The NP and its policies were meant to disadvantage black people because they were blatantly racist and deliberate. We have a black government today looting from the state and destroying public infrastructure, meant to benefit those disadvantaged by Apartheid. The NP and the ANC are the same in my opinion. Just one didn't pretend to care about black people.
@Nka_Metro@TumishoMasha Inaction is also a choice. If the majority keep voting for the government every election cycle. It's self evident if we are being fair that the majority is happy. You might not be. But the majority is. The majority is black. So therefore they are happy with things as they are.
@Nka_Metro@TumishoMasha I'm saying neither. I'm just saying the bar is low to justify the state of the country. Black people (and others) are living under horrendous conditions, but it's ok because it's "better than living during Apartheid". Like that's a pat on the back.
@Siviwe_Matroos How about waiting for the facts first, like a functional adult? Choosing sides is detrimental to either party, if you're wrong. The beauty of facts is that, even if you are wrong (due to changing circumstances). No sensible society would crucify you, because you dealt in facts.
