Hi,
we're Oliver and Matthias and we're working on a classic point'n'click adventure from scratch in our spare time. Having finally found an artist we are finally able to give a first glimpse.

Lastly I want to thank everyone for their interest in the project and who knows, maybe some day an opportunity will arise to finish the game.
So long!

As I've laid out in the attached thread, we're unfortunately putting "Project Paranoia" on hold, as it is impossible for us to finish it under the given circumstances. We don't really want to abandon the idea of finishing it some day, but with our current resources that's not

With mixed feelings, I have to announce that after working on @ParanoiaPnC for about 3 years, we decided to put the project on hold. The project is just too big and puts too much strain on our personal lives. Not having an artist on the team is also a major factor,

gonna happen in the foreseeable future.
In the meantime I will pursue other projects as described in the other thread. If you're interested you can follow me @std_user.

Playing around with some fragment shader stuff, because every point'n'click needs a flashlight, riiight?
The project keeps steadily going. The biggest hurdle is still to find an affordable pixel artist, so not much new to show.

Maybe a less obvious part of an adventure engine:
If you want your character to walk around obstacles automagically, you'll need some #pathfinding.
This is a little test app I wrote to visualize the algorithm.
It's just A* and polygons but the details were tedious 😵💫😅 #gamedev
@games_kini Hi, thanks for the interest. We're building our own engine in C++ and Squirrel, heavily inspired by the Thimbleweed Park blog. It's basically feature complete so far so that soon we can hopefully focus more on actual content.
We're still working hard on a first demo of "Project Paranoia". In the meantime, here is a rough little teaser.
Unfortunately it's slightly too long for a tweet, so you can watch it here: https://t.co/dDxpEw6SNc

After Bugzilla broke down again due to a Perl update, I finally replaced everything with #Gitea.
It really was an easy setup and since it doesn't need a whole ecosystem I am confident it won't get b0rked every other update. 🙏

Not exactly ASMR, but we did a little voice-over for Bob's keyboard.
Not only is Bob a bit of a purist when it comes to his coffee maker, he's also kind of retro in the technology department and prefers the good old Model M.

@Fox_Centurion Yeah, this is all pretty much preliminary still. The arrows were in fact one of the first things I added to "just make it work" (btw. mousewheel works too). So for now the focus is more to make it "complete" and then do polishing later.
We're currently working on wrapping up the very fist part of the game in order to get some sort of demo thing. Engine is roughly feature complete. I'm currently working on in-game menus while Matthias is writing more dialogs.

Uh oh, what's that?
Did Alice just catch your IT guy Perry programming Project Paranoia while at work?! 🧐😱🤔
Well, fine with me, wouldn't mind the support.👍

Introducing Doc Franklin, head of the forensics lab of the agency.
Alice was really surprised because she looks more like a Doc Frankenstein, but that will be fixed soon with a little "offset" surgery.

@DionousGames Yeah, that's right. It's pretty much inspired by the dev blog from @grumpygamer about Thimbleweed Park back then.
The engine itself is C++ and for scripting we also use the Squirrel language.
