The urgent computing continuum: System integration for time-critical scenarios
How can computing help the response to an emergency? Daniel Balouek's (@Inria) current research focuses on leveraging the edge-cloud-HPC continuum for urgent science, i.e. "realizing a fluid ecosystem where distributed computing resources and services (the computing continuum) are aggregated on-demand to support delay-sensitive and data-driven workflows" (quoted from https://t.co/nxPKpIbAAE).
In this #TransatlanticTechTalk for #DiscoverUS, Daniel discusses urgent application scenarios and requirements across the computing continuum. The talk introduces results in service orchestration, such as a function-as-a-service runtime for enabling the decomposition, localization, and relocation of applications inside a continuum infrastructure. It closes by outlining research directions on adaptation for edge-cloud infrastructures.
As part of DISCOVER-US, Daniel undertook a research stay with @parasharmanish at the @UUtah, allowing him to build on his knowledge and extend his research network.
