#NoKingsDay
Several hundred people gathered Saturday at the pedestrian bridge over the US 60 next to Cole Park in Tempe for No Kings: Vote Early, drawing honks from drivers below.
Part protest, part get-out-the-vote drive, the event had volunteers helping attendees find where to cast their ballots.
The mood was largely upbeat, with plenty of humorous signs, though many voiced frustration with the national news.
The Tempe gathering was one of roughly 3,000 events held across all 50 states.
