Glad to share that #Odisha has been ranked fifth in the country in attracting investment, as per @NITIAayog’s latest ‘Investment Friendliness Index (IFI) Report prepared based on performance in 2023-24. Odisha has an overall score of 52.4% compared to 56.6% of Gujarat.

From bankruptcy in 2000, to stand tall among top states in attracting investment across India is immensely satisfactory for me. The turnaround from a laggard state to a beacon state is a story of our sustained reform, fiscal discipline and transformative governance under the principles of #5T which is now being celebrated by present Odisha BJP Government.

Odisha has scored ahead of several double engine governments in many parameters while it has emerged as shining beacon in prudent fiscal management across the country, which has been praised by NITI Aayog. Total outstanding liabilities stood at just 16% of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), while interest payments were only 1.38% of GSDP, which is lowest across the country. Odisha accounted for nearly half of India’s mineral output and close to a quarter of the nation’s coal production. And I wonder where are the so-called double engine governments?

Our sustained effort, policy interventions and discipline have turned the state into a magnet for investment. It has empowered Odisha to invest in people‑centric welfare initiatives. It helped us in investing in pioneering schemes like #BSKY, #KALIA, and #MissionShakti to #SkillDevelopment, #OdishaSchoolTransformation, Tribal welfare, #DisasterManagement, infrastructure development, irrigation projects, poverty alleviation and fund our own food security scheme without waiting for handouts from the Centre. I convey my deepest gratitude to the people of Odisha, whose steadfast partnership has powered this remarkable journey of transformation.

I am happy that Odisha BJP is chest thumping the achievement of Biju Janata Dal as its own. But I am worried with the way the Odisha double engine govt is mis-managing finances, it could push the state into same path of bankruptcy which we inherited 25 years back.

He said that the situation is very serious and very grave. Many young students have been violently attacked and injured. He has asked the Biju Janata Dal MPs to go to hospitals to see the injured and do whatever they can for the injured students.

VIDEO | Former Odisha Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Naveen Patnaik has demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the recent controversy. During his visit to New Delhi, Naveen Patnaik also held a meeting with all Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Members of Parliament to discuss key political and parliamentary issues.

He says, "I am meeting with the Biju Janata Dal members of Parliament on the serious matter of what is happening in Delhi. I have given a long speech two days earlier, which was covered by the national media. The situation, as you know, is very serious, very grave. A number of young students have been violently attacked and injured. Our MPs, the Biju Janata Dal MPs, have been to the hospitals to see them and have asked whatever they can do for these young people who have been injured by doing whatever they can. As I said, this is a very serious matter, as you can see how the matter is in Delhi, and not only in Delhi but in various cities of India, and even before our embassies in various international capitals, I have to return for serious matters to Bhubaneswar tomorrow morning. But our MPs will very seriously take up the present matter. I have also been asked whether the Education Minister should resign. Many demands from many parties have come for his resignation. Like all these serious injuries of young people have been taking place. So under the circumstances, I think he should resign."
