- Agritourism operators’ experiences can help shape policies
- horizontal and vertical networking is key for agritourist operators

8/9 interviewees stated that government development regulations and operation requirements make agritourism businesses difficult to operate because the policies constrain daily difficult operations and don't allow farm operators to easily expand their business #ICRPS2021
Agritourism IS a viable option for farmers to pursue:
- Agritourism is the “next stage” in a farmer’s life
- Small-scale family farms in north Durham have largely experienced a positive economic benefit since diversifying through agritourism.

Semi-structured interviews, comprised of 15-open ended questions were used as the research method. Interviews were conducted with agritourism operators, who had been in business for 1-35 years and who were members of the OFA or Durham Farm Fresh #ICRPS2021
