It’s #Flashbackfriday, today we visit the Capitol Crescent Trail and what was the Georgetown Branch Rail Line of the B&O railroad until 1985. Planning began for the trail in 1988 and it official opened in 1996.

Tuesday night into Wednesday the annual Candlelight Vigil and Fallen Heroes Memorial Service was held at Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters.

Today we remember Officer Kristin Pataki, who was killed in the line of duty in a single vehicle accident on May 4th 2002, while responding to assist a fellow officer in Clarksburg. Her sacrifice is not forgotten. We continue to keep her family and fellow Officers in our thoughts

Sligo Creek Parkway between University Blvd and Dennis Ave is closed in preparation for Sligo Creek Fest this Saturday. The road will reopen as scheduled on Sunday evening. @WTOPtraffic
