While APC senators met at ICC, Bukola Saraki was elected Senate President with opposition support - defying party preference.

The Protest: In defiant protest, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and his colleagues scaled the gates and fences to gain entry.

(Leadership Crisis): The crisis centered around the then Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.
Tambuwal had defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP-led Federal Government and its security apparatus viewed Tambuwal as having lost his seat and sought to prevent him from presiding over the House.
