PARL, in collaboration with the Collective for Historical Dialogue & Memory, screened No More Land (2024) on 7 Feb. The film and discussion opened space to reflect on land, displacement, and lived experiences in Sri Lanka’s #ampara district through the voices of eleven women.

The two-day protest initiated by the Youth and Civil Society against the mineral sand mining, calling for the Protection of Mannar, ended this evening. As yesterday, today, the public signed the letters to be sent to the President requesting not to destroy Mannar, and leaflets were also distributed throughout the city informing about the damage that mineral sand mining will cause to the lives of the people of Mannar and the environment. Religious leaders, political party activists and a number of civil society organizations expressed their support for the public protest in Mannar today.
