Apparently, the turnout for the local elections yesterday was something in the region of 25%...Which is actually appalling and in my mind. It effectively means the whole exercise is pretty meaningless. Am I wrong?
Zelensky is reported to have said today: "The war would be over if the world was as courageous as Ukraine and Britain". I remember Mini Micron saying: "Brexit would make the UK as insignificant as Guernsey". Oh dear! The EU will not like the praise for UK from Zelensky.
@acgrayling Uzbekistan is taking off, reminds me of UAE pre development. Where are the British sales people? Why aren’t they all over these developing markets winning business?
My understanding is that Durham police decided days ago to investigate Sir Keir Starmer over beergate but held off because of purdah and fears it could sway votes
By leaving the EU, the UK was allowed to remove VAT on fuel. It was a Brexit bonus.
Why has this still not happened during a fuel-price energy crisis?
@BorisJohnson@RishiSunak
@tina_swindells @SusanTa72587111 Reminds me of the Teddy Boys, or was it the Skin Heads, or perhaps the Mill Wall supporters, or even Mods v Rockers. Become? Just another part of U.K.’s rich tapestry.
Is Sir Beer Starmer the first QC, former DPP and Head of the CPS, Knight of the Realm, MP, Leader of HM Opposition, to be under a police criminal investigation? I understand if the Covid law was broken and he lied about the party, he believes it is a resigning matter. Karma.
@Mark_J_Harper@TonyHinton2016 Hello Mark, you make a very good point! Is it possible for the government to insist that the local police force investigate KS & R’s involvement? In the public interest, as the rule of law must be respected by all involved in the process of law making.
Keir Starmer was the Prime Minister’s nodding dog on Covid laws
Starmer & Labour approved draconian laws without asking difficult questions, leaving that to my Conservative backbench colleagues & me
He made the rules. He can’t get away with it if he’s found to have broken them
@Channel4News Hi Richard, you sound very jealous of the Governor of the Bank of England. Obviously you would expect him to be well remunerated for such an important job. Perhaps, even regretting you ended up as an old hack. Thank you for your cynical reporting it is so uplifting
Councils who want to improve their town centres and shopping areas need to make it easier to drive there and park. Too many Councils want to make it difficult or impossible to use cars so people stay away.
@eurobishop The long queues are the result of the petty minded decisions taken by the EU countries who resent U.K. democratic decision to leave. Long queues are fault of those who wanted U.K. to stay, the EU countries not Brexit.
@pmphillips Many Christians feel nervous about attending Church, let alone non-Christians. I attended RC funeral, priest announced no communion with non RC, but he would give Blessing.
