@BluesReactor Nope. STL still has many holes that need to be filled. Assume they fill them by this time next year. That means we get Larkin for 1 or 2 years of his prime before his production statistically declines.
@nyokodo Suffering from the world is guaranteed. Suffering which is self-caused is preventable through virtue development.
So, so much of this world's suffering is self-caused. Those who eliminate it can greatly increase their happiness relative to their state in life.
@jpolly22 Size is a floor thing, not a ceiling thing. If a big player fails to meet expectations their size allows them to fill other roles on a team. Small players can be great, but if they don't meet expectations it's harder to find a place for them.
@cranberryrasp@twelcher15 Larkin is a great player, and Thomas/Larkin at 1C/2C with Larkin playing bumper on the PP would be awesome.
The problem for STL is that they are building around a young core. I'm not sure a 30 year old Larkin fits their projected window.
@twelcher15 10 years better represents recent management, culture, and core of a team. I would never take the whole history of a team as a reason to join them. E.g., Imagine joining the Oilers in 2005 because they were a dynasty under Gretzky.
@HJDDenzinger@Emma506131772@PaulinusOfTrier I have met multiple Chinese priests, including ones who had to be smuggled out of the country. The line between the underground and official Church in China is blurry. This is in part because some areas of China are draconian in applying certain laws and very lax in others.
@CharlesTingler@jarldietrich@LendHopeNothing Was John the Apostle committing an ad hominem when he pointed out the hypocritical moral righteousness of Judas toward Mary of Bethany? What other reason did he have to point out the otherwise irrelevant fact that Judas stole from the common fund?
We should delete that too.
@timotheeology You have Steven Long in this group? Nice! His Teleological Grammar of the Moral Act was such a useful way of understanding the moral object v. further intentions.
@gansotonto All analogies limp somewhere, even the Augustinian preferred analogies. Any analogy is helpful to the extent that it gets the general sense of the idea. They were never meant to be a replacement for theology or creeds.
@TalkeyHockey Not only is that offer subpar, but the market for Centers is light this year. You would a) need to offer a great package that is b) better than every other team's package, and c) impress the Blues so much that they'd give up their cost-controlled 1C in his prime.
Good luck.
@ManassehRJones Oh, I found it! It's in the Table of Contents at the beginning! I can't believe I hadn't bothered to read that part. THAT is how we know what books belong in the Bible and which ones don't!
You've taught me a lot. I owe you.
