Dear citizens of Guwahati.
Today (Dated-11/08/2022) I suffered from serious abuse in broad light in a moving city bus.
I was travelling today from Christian Basti to Maligaon on the city bus (Bus route: Basistha to Jalukbari Via Paltanbazar) at around 11 Am.

The bus conductor demanded more fare than the usual rate. On refuting the high charge, I asked for the bus ticket.
His behaviour changed in a moment and he tried to misbehave with me, and after a couple of verbal exchanges, I paid him the charge he asked for. He gave me no ticket

When I tried to click the picture of the number plate, he charged towards me and tried to snatch away my cell phone forcefully touching my hand which was a blatant sign of physical abuse.
He also verbally abused me
No one on the bus dared to speak/stand for my safety at that time

Seeing one traffic police at Bhangagarh, I got off the bus seeking for help.
But to my utter surprise, he let the bus go without saying anything
Name of the Traffic Police as noticed by me from his nameplate: R. Ali
Duty area as on 11/08/2022: Bhangagarh area near PF office.

Such incidents occurring at Daylight in the middle of Guwahati is just a shame
We rely on the police department for our safety but where is our safety when the police let the perpetrator flee when they could have caught them red-handed?
It was a live example of abuse over women.

Being a female i want to ask the concerned authorities if any day any girl faces such kind of harassment or problem whom should they address or approach? Because in my case i approached many but got help from noone.

As a local resident of Guwahati, I urge the respected ones to take serious action against such practices and the perpetrator in this case
