This is the right take. Move the calendar, do whatever it takes to host the National Championship at the Rose Bowl every single year.
Nothing else compares.
@WallisMarsh@JoshPateCFB The stadium is old, and that’s a feature, not a bug. But if CFB made it the permanent championship venue, there’s plenty of money for renovations.
The Rose Bowl is historic, and treats their game like Augusta National treats the Masters. We need more of that in CFB.
@BrennaGreene_ Agree... make the Rose Bowl the national championship game every single year. Heaven forbid the people in charge do what's best for the sport, not what's best for their wallets.
And as @joelklatt has proposed, the National Championship should be played there every season. As he said recently, “It is the most iconic, best sporting venue in all of sports, and college football can own it . . . Everybody should be trying to get to the Rose Bowl.”
Unpopular opinion but: maybe we should change the CFP so that the rose bowl is the NCAAF finals cause it has its own parade, lots of fanfare and legacy and really cool venue. Having a quarter finals game have so much fanfare then the winner plays 2 more games for finals is weird
@JoshPateCFB Make The Rose Bowl Game the National Championship and play it on January 1 at 4pm.
Every Saturday in December is a playoff game Saturday.
Every round on campus until the Rose Bowl.
I’m asking a lot, but I’m in favor of this.
My annual request that the national championship always be at the Rose Bowl.
I know the stadium's not amazing. I know the travel limitations. I know many SEC fans don't care.
But it's special. It's the most college football place we have, and the sport should lean into that.
The CFP national championship should be played:
At the Rose Bowl
5pm Eastern Time
New Years Day
Stop playing championship games on a Monday night in late January
