Suddenly providing Healthcare for free is possible when they need to torture trans people but not when I need to see an endocrinologist for a life threatening genetic condition
Off the top of my head though I feel my S tier picks on an imsim tier list would probably be like (In no particular order)
Deus Ex, System Shock 1, 2 and the remake, Thief II The Metal Age, Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Something along those lines
@etherx2_1870 Oh yeah the original Deus Ex has a lot of it too but in a more instanced level based format. The levels are still super dense with stuff though. Mankind Divided basically took that approach and went "what if we built an entire open world like Deus Ex levels?"
@etherx2_1870 Off the top of my head the only other imsim I've played that really kinda took a similarish approach with its level design (smaller but dense open worlds with lots of interaction points, secrets and places to explore) was Deathloop and it slaps there too
@etherx2_1870 The amount of nooks and crannies and hidden pathways and alternative routes and secrets and stuff is so mindbogglingly insane that I just KEEP FINDING STUFF. It's such an incredibly realized open world that feels right at home in an imsim
@etherx2_1870 MANKIND DIVIDED IS SO GOOD. People give it shit for being shorter and clearly only one half of a larger game which does suck but it has one of the single most interesting open world sandboxes I have seen in a video game, not even just an immersive sim. It's fucking incredible
This genre is so fucking special to me to the point it's hard to put into words. There is genuinely nothing like it.
God knows how many years ago young me would fire up System Shock 2 for the first time and the trajectory of my life would change forever
Like holy shit I'm hard pressed to find a single immersive sim that HASN'T imprinted itself on my brain in some permanent way and has changed the way I look at video games forever
But this genre means a monumental amount to me (I'm pretty sure at least a third of my top 10 games of all time are fucking immersive sims ngl) so I feel it would be worthwhile
I should make an immersive sim tier list... I haven't played ALL of them out there quite yet of course but I've played a pretty large number of em (off the top of my head I'm only really missing the Dishonored games and Thief 3 for the "big" ones iirc)
