German Bivouac 2026. 🇩🇪

The ARRC German contingent hosted a special ‘bivouac’ (night watch) garden party for their NATO colleagues. Traditionally celebrated on October 3rd, this normally falls within an exercise period, so it is brought forward to coincide with the better weather.

With around 300 guests from all 20 Partner Nations in HQ ARRC, the event was kindly supported by a Bundeswehr field catering team and 40 members of the German Airforce Music Corps (Luftwaffen Musik Korps) based in Muenster, Germany.

The night was capped off under darkness with torches lit and the National Anthems of Germany and the UK played by the German Airforce Music Corps.

#Turkey is about to sell to a third country the S-400 air defense systems it has acquired from Russla. This transaction might resume the delivery of F-35 from 🇺🇸to 🇹🇷
And of course it might pave the way for the withdrawal of CAATSA sanctions.
Yet we don’t know which Gulf country will acquire the S-400 with the blessing of Moscow. To be followed.

Today, I had a warm and highly productive meeting with the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, @RTErdogan, at the Presidential Palace in Ankara.

Our discussions focused on further strengthening the 🇸🇰🤝🇹🇷 Slovak–Turkish Strategic Partnership, which offers tremendous potential for both our countries. As our economic ties continue to grow, we agreed to explore new opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, defense, energy, and the nuclear sector.

We also exchanged views on the security situation in the #MiddleEast and Russia’s war against Ukraine. Both Slovakia and Türkiye remain committed to peaceful solutions and dialogue. Slovakia stands ready to support Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting stability, security, and lasting peace in the region and beyond.
