The funeral of D-Day veteran Harry Billinge, one of the first British soldiers to storm Gold Beach during the Normandy landings in 1944, takes place today.
Here’s Harry in his own words, reading ‘The Longest Day’ – remembered on #BBCBreakfast 💛

The Sarah Everard narrative has completely changed. It’s not that she was just walking home, it’s that she was stopped and ‘arrested’ under false pretences by someone with the ‘power’ and full intention to harm her. How the hell are you supposed to protect yourself from that?!
You don’t get to stoke the fire at the beginning of the tournament by labelling our anti-racism message as ‘Gesture Politics’ & then pretend to be disgusted when the very thing we’re campaigning against, happens.
Probably wise of the police to just leave them to it until they do something really dangerous like holding a candlelight vigil for a woman murdered by a police officer.
On the same day that it announced the end of compulsory mask-wearing the government introduced a bill for compulsory voter ID.
You’d never guess that Covid-19 is still a serious problem and that voter fraud is a largely non-existent one.
Imagine if @BorisJohnson had simply said:
“I’m not going to force you to wear masks on public transport & in shops, but I *do* recommend it. Because not everyone is vaccinated yet; cases are sky high; & I care about the vulnerable & immunosuppressed.”
Imagine.
Waiter who double spin kicked 2 seconds into this video I am free on Saturday night. I repeat. Saturday night is when I am free if you are the waiter who double spin kicked at approximately 2 seconds into this clip. I hope to see you on Saturday night, when I am free.
