ALL survivors deserve a path to justice. Signed into law May ‘22. The one year look back window opens November ‘22. (S.66 @bradhoylman /A.648 @LindaBRosenthal)
Trauma has no expiration date, which is why our laws must reflect the realities + lived experience of survivors.
Proud to be championing a slate of bills to further open the doors of justice, incl. my bill to eliminate the civil statute of limitations on child sex abuse.
If you are able, please consider joining me in a gift to help support a multi-year campaign in NY state to drive legislative changes and advocate for reforms that protect the rights of survivors and hold perpetrators accountable.

This was the #OpEd piece I co-wrote about the #AdultSurvivorsAct in NY as a means to help it get passed. And it did pass (due to the insightful and persistent leaders of this legislation. I’m grateful to have had a small role in its success). This is the legislation that Cassie was able to use as a means to come forward and share her story. I’m glad that ASA has been of use to many survivors who simply wanted to be heard, seen, and believed. ♥️🙏🏾

The Adult Survivors Act is one of the most important pieces of legislation we passed during my time in the Senate & I’m deeply proud to have fought hard to pass it. The allegation of rape against Sen. Parker should be taken seriously.
Accountability looks like the Senate Ethics Committee stripping Parker of his committee chairmanship & assignments, but there is another even more important point to be made. (Thread 1/6)
Thanks to the #AdultSurvivorsAct, survivors of sexual assault have a one-year window of opportunity to take our power back and file suit in New York, no matter how long ago the abuse happened. The window is open now until Nov. 23, 2023.
Survivors who were 18+ at the time of their abuse have until 11/23 to file suit under the #AdultSurvivorsAct in NY, no matter how long ago the abuse happened. We encourage survivors to act now by contacting our discreet support line: https://t.co/W4aM9ob1N0. (3/3)
The #AdultSurvivorsAct provides the opportunity for survivors to hold their abusers or the institution that was negligent in stopping the abuse accountable. Take action NOW, because the window for civil justice is closing on Nov 23, 2023. @JessSchafroth @BridieForUs
The @NYSA_Majority, specifically @LindaBRosenthal championed the Adult Survivors Act to provide a legal remedy for New Yorkers who were time-barred from seeking justice in a court of law. The one-year look back window is now in effect.
"The #AdultSurvivorsAct presents a watershed moment for survivors; it invites and empowers them to reclaim their narratives, end their silence, and hold those who harmed them accountable." @WigdorLaw@itsgraceaki@GothamGazette https://t.co/wVRi720NPm
The New York Adult Survivors Act recognizes that victims of sexual assault can't always pursue a case immediately. Now, victims can have hope that #justice can still be served and that perpetrators will not be able to hide forever. @PasstheASA

New York’s Adult Survivors Act creates a one-year window to bring civil cases alleging abuse and rape committed in New York State against people 18 years old or older. https://t.co/aMSuo321in
Today @BrianLehrer discussed The Adult Survivors Act and how it will positively impact New Yorkers who have been sexually assaulted. I’m grateful to have been a part of the conversation and to continue the work to lift up + center the power of survivors.
