I was glad to see the SBC Resolutions Committee brought out "On Finishing Well." I've lived long enough to see many gifted and talented men fall out of ministry in sin and shame. My goal in writing was show thankfulness for those who show us how to stay faithful to the end.
@SandraPeoples Persistent application of effort.
Faithful articulation of vision.
Devotion to the vulnerable.
You’re seeing the fruit from a tree you’ve tended for a long time. I’m thankful for you.
Amidst all of the name-calling, shaming, and drama-mongering in the SBC there is a neglected fact:
Many churches have no meaningful plan to protect their children and vulnerable adults from sexual abuse.
@TolbertOBU@lukeholmes@DGrantGaines I would look at https://t.co/xQLZ1VapE8 - most of the convention rules are in the constitution, and the standing rules are probably in the daily bulletin / annual
Denial isn’t just “this didn't happen.” It's also “you might sleep better if you forgot this happened.” Like a magic trick where the magician makes your card vanish, and you smile, but can’t remember what your card was.
He shows a card. “Is this yours?” And you remember.
I have a vivid memory of Nancy doing her @BethMooreLPM impression and saying, “sometimes you eat the seed because you need it now, and sometimes you plant the seed so you’ll have more later.”
In these past weeks I am so thankful for all the people who’ve faithfully sowed seed +
I’ve been digging them all up.
Thankful for my brothers and sisters who have taught me the word. God’s word has been my light house.
So many people have thrown me ropes. +
