I truly believe Lance cared deeply for Allura like he cared for any of the other paladins, but romantically, he loved the idea of her more than anything. Half of it came from his own insecurities and that if he somehow could be with Allura, it would mean that he was enough.

@orcacove My issue is that is that the show makes it seem that all his insecurities about him "just being a boy from Cuba" is wiped away just because he ended up with Allura. It feels cheap and I would have loved to see their relationship start on better terms for both of them.
