If our culture is like water, then the concept of grace is its oil. We like to work hard and believe our efforts should merit reward. Until, of course, we come face-to-face with our inability to truly “help ourselves.”

therefore doomed to die. Only within the communion of the saints can the length and the breadth, the depth and the height, of the love of Christ be comprehended.

This was really edifying. Scripture was written originally to be heard. It took fewer than 20 minutes. You will be glad you listened. Hearing a book read consecutively is a powerful experience.
I posted this 12 years ago: I wish - as a seminary student 18 years ago - I would have been encouraged to read more Jonathan Edwards and John Owen and less Rick Warren and Bill Hybels.
Ezekiel's favorite word for "idols" is גִלּוּלִים (gillulim), which means "dung deities" or "crap gods."
In fact, Hebrew uses many pejorative words for false gods.
The Scriptures show no mercy, no grace, no respect to idols.
Let us give heed.
@ColinLundstrom I, too, don’t know you Colin, but have kept up with you via this platform. Praying now and am grateful you’re getting better. Persevere. SDG
In 1944 my great grandma was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Her mother, younger brother and sister were gassed, murdered and cremated on arrival.
Tomorrow, at the age of 98, my great grandma’s memoir, Lily’s Promise, is being published in paperback, dedicated in their honour.❤️
To the Nazis, she was A-17740.
To us, she is Miriam, a Holocaust survivor & grandmother of 10.
Miriam & her family were sent to Auschwitz in 1944. She was the only one who made it out alive.
We're the last generation to hear the stories firsthand. It is our duty to remember.
