We tell givers to be mindful of takers
But givers should also be cautious of people who have no gratitude practice.
Not saying, “Thank you,” tells me you’re not used to receiving
and will fumble a giver’s heart.

Nothing can separate you from God’s love.
You cannot do anything to earn it.
And it cannot be revoked.
Not by people doin you wrong.
Not by you bein raggedy.
Not by sin.
Not by death.
There is more to you than what you see.
There is more to God’s love than what you know.
I hope you have a safe, loving, and Jesus-centered faith community to be with today.
If you don’t, or if church just isn’t a healthy space for you right now, I hope you know God’s love for you is not based on church attendance.
God loves you and is with you wherever you are.
What are some unusual dealbreakers for you?
For me, if you’re super busy, always tired from xyz, stay far away from me and the peaceful life I’ve built.
Spiritual hygiene, esp. rest, is a requirement for me.

It is good that our sexual & marriage ethics have taken us past the point of seriously contemplating whether or not we should “give our daughters in marriage” to their abusers.
But that should alert us to the fact that the Bible is NOT our only source of ethics OR theology. 2/2
We should hope that people who say they uphold a “biblical sexual ethic” & “biblical” marriage are either mistaken or otherwise not tellin the whole truth.
Cuz some of the Bible’s sexual & marriage ethics are 😬😬😬
Deuteronomy 22:28-29?
I’m very glad we reject that today. 1/2
If a pastor tells you to choose theological commitments over relationships with your children, that’s not just bad advice, it’s spiritual abuse.
It’s also antithetical to the way of Jesus.
He didn’t tell us to love our doctrine and dogmas.
He told us to love each another.
It takes a minimum of 5 years to become trusted as the pastor. There are no shortcuts.
So, settle in and give yourself to shepherding that flock.
Funerals. Hospital visits. Widows homes. Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.
Learn to love the grind.
I plan to be nice about it! I’m just gonna explain that maybe his shirt is a little too tight, accentuating things, obviously, that shouldn’t be accentuated. It seems that he is trying to brag about his body through his clothes and I think he should stop. In the name of the Lord!
I’m definitely going to start letting men know at church when I can see the outlines of their body parts based on the clothes they wear and then suggest different outfits for them to wear that might make me feel happier. I did NOT realize this was a thing we do to people - fun!!
The Evangelical obsession with Israel is not only theological malpractice. It is morally evil. It is not rooted in the gospels but whiteness, ignorance, and power. As a Christian, that’s NOT the only position. You can stand with innocent citizens and against immoral oppression.
People can be astounded by your purpose, and even your passion, but not care for your personhood.
Church folks, especially, should be mindful of this when pouring, pouring, pouring.
Don’t you deserve to refuel before puttering around on empty?
The way of Jesus has never been conquest.
The way of Columbus was anti-Christ.
Christians should be at the forefront of the decolonization movement.

You don’t have to give long, drawn-out explanations for why people, places, or things are a NO for you.
I don’t like it.
I don’t feel safe there.
I don’t like who I am with them.
You don’t have to justify or qualify any of this.
