Just so everyone knows, I first-guessed the decision to pull Lynch (8 pitches) for Erceg (32 pitches and ineffective yesterday) with two lefties due up. Erceg didn't give up anything hard-hit, but the game is lost. #Royals
@OleTimeHardball Bo didn't play RF in his prime. If you're going to move a Royal from LF to RF and make him your choice, the better choice is Alex Gordon.
@jazayerli Even as a rookie, he was making more low-probability plays than most shortstops. He just made a lot of errors, which was where most of his negative value came from. The other thing that I think helped him (possibly) was the elimination of extreme shifts.
@AugieNash He was a great man. Knew him long after his playing days were over. He could have been arrogant about his accomplishments or bitter about lost opportunities, but he was just a humble man who served the Lord and the poor in his community. One of the best men I've known.
@Cardinals great and my friend Richard (Dick) Hughes passed away yesterday. 1967 champion and TSN Rookie Pitcher of the Year. More than that, a fine charitable Christian man. One of the best men I've known.
@royalsreview Of many frustrating things about last night, near the top is that they just kept him in there. With the foot contusion, they had the perfect opportunity to pull him for injury with the game still tied. Saves face for Estevez and gives a chance for Lynch or Mears or Lange to close
@royalsreview Depends on who would lead off instead. You flip the order only to have to get past another bad hitter like India or something, it's frustrating. If it's Garcia or someone else good, fine. But Bobby would be an outstanding leadoff hitter.
@podoffame@baseball_ref With guys like Helton and Mauer sailing in, it's really weird that Berkman fell off in one ballot, especially since those same writers voted him top-5 in MVP four times and top-7 six times.
