Think on This Thursday: Easter Eggs. Did you color Easter Eggs as a kid? Well, you are never too old to dye an egg. Just as we are never too old for spring, new beginnings or the joy of Easter. Bring back the Easter Egg tradition in your house. Spread the joy...Easter is coming
Women on Wednesday: Mary Magdalene was close to Jesus. She was present at both the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. She was also the first to encounter the Risen Jesus. He asks her, "Whom are you looking for?" Jesus asks us the same question. How do you respond?
Take Action Tuesday: Write a kind note to someone today...a friend, a parent, or teacher. What a great way to celebrate the coming of Palm Sunday and Jesus' triumphant ride into Jerusalem.
#makelentreal: Shout out to advisees from Mrs. McGavin & Mrs. Perry's groups giving up cookies, candy & sweets. And props to an advisee from Mrs. Corte's group who is doing an online bible study during lent. Great job, ladies!
Fasting Friday: Here at Mercy, we are fasting from Cafeteria Food today. We are serving only soup, bread, & water. Proceeds are going to a food pantry in Appalachia. Offering a small sacrifice to unite us with Jesus and our brothers & sisters who hunger daily.
Women on Wednesday: Pilate's wife due to a disturbing dream advocates for Jesus. This took courage and strength. Do you have the determination, courage and strength of Pilate's wife? Do yo speak up in the face of injustice? Pray for the ability to stand up for what's right.
#Makelentreal Monday: Shout out to a student in Mrs. Schrimscher's Advisee Group who gave up meat for a whole week. And to a student in Mrs. Lavely's group who gave up Instagram. Good job making lent real!
Women on Wed- Salome, wife of Zebedee & mother of James & John. She was present at the crucifixion (Mk 15:40) and there when the tomb is found empty (Mk 16:1) What highs and lows she experienced. But ever faithful! Help me be like Salome.
#Makelentreal Mondays: Girls here at Mercy are giving up sweets & soda. Others adding daily prayer. Others trying to use more positive language. What are you doing to make Lent real?
Think on this Thursday: Stations of the Cross are an ancient Lenten Tradition. Over the years the stations and number of stations have varied. Currently the church now celebrates 14 stations with the 15th station being the resurrection. Have you been to Stations this Lent?
Women on Wed: Veronica was moved with compassion to wipe the face of Jesus in his suffering. She followed her gut despite the harm it could bring her from guards or the crowd. Are we as brave to give witness to our faith? Do come we forth to stand up for what we believe in?
