This is why we're doing what we're doing. Freeing ourselves from reliance on a cruel system built only for maximum profit. Mass food production needs to end. Return to local food systems and support your local farmer. Animals, and your family, deserve better than what these companies are providing.

Since we opened up the pasture to include part of our chore route we have a cow traffic jam every day lol. We also learned to bring cow treats or else Nutmeg will eat the chick feed. I told my husband it's her pregnancy craving lmao. Shenanigans!!

We were doing chores in the side by side when we got the text that the chicks have arrived.... well we made the trip down the backroom and got poured on but hey we got the chicks!! Definitely one for the books lol.

We opened up a new pasture area for the cows and the girls were immediately excited and curious. Good ol' Ringo took a day before he started exploring lol.

We also caught one of the stray kittens - when we got there, there was a possum in the cage! I guess if you leave food out for an animal in the woods expect other animals to find it. We evicted the possum and got the baby. There's a couple more.

Farm diaries:
It was a tough day on the farm today, we loat two more chicks. We had put them in with a mama hen and come to find out she has been pecking them. So we kicked her out - hopefully the other chicks are good now. Lesson learned.
